Rachel's Road to Cures

When Rachel was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor at 14, she felt helpless. But helplessness was replaced with hope at Children's Hospital Boston.

Rachel had a very delicate brain surgery by Children's neurosurgeon Liliana Goumnerova, MD. During her recovery, she created beaded jewelry to pass the time, then decided to sell it, raising money for Children's Hospital Boston. Many jewelry party and craft shows later, Rachel donated the profits--$10,000 worth--to cancer research at Children's, home to the world's largest research enterprise at a pediatric hospital.
