About Caduceus

The Caduceus game grows out of the Zebrafish story as a way for Tanya's brother Walt to deal with his sister's illness. A sensitive artist, Walt has begun sketching his friends for their upcoming animated music video. As he does, a new world grows on the page. It becomes a game that echoes the thoughts in his head. Caduceus, the quest for a cure, comes to life.

Caduceus is an interactive adventure that thrusts players into a world of science and alchemy. As kids assume the role of healers, they solve scientific and medical puzzles and have a chance to explore the Zebrafish content and ideas more deeply. Through these challenges, we are giving kids an analogy about issues that face modern day scientists from tracking down the source of a disease, to isolating its causes, to mixing and matching ingredients to find a cure.

Caduceus also models philanthropy, within the story and within the game. At the end of each chapter, the hero pauses to give a donation to a character or cause that touches his or her life in the quest. Kids get a chance to give, too. After each puzzle, they can choose to donate points to an unnamed worthy cause. Kids can also play and advance without giving. If they do, they'll advance more slowly in the game.

The Caduceus Story

Alterica is a fantastic world of intrigue and innovation. Glistening cities float among the clouds, dirigibles crisscross the planet, and healers use a mix of science and magic to treat their patients. But when a deadly and unknown disease threatens to spread throughout the land, even the most powerful healers are stumped. As a student at the Alterican College of Alchemy, you find yourself sent by the Maesters to the lab of one of Alterica's finest researchers to help search for a cure. Although you are only a novice healer, your instincts are true. Soon, you are hot on the trail of the spreading virus.

As you venture beyond the protected walls of your laboratory in search of the cause of this deadly disease, you discover mysterious villages and cities. Mystical healers and incredible creatures challenge and guide you along the way. At each stop, you must solve a cryptic puzzle that tests your scientific knowledge and powers of alchemy. Each solution gets you closer to finding a cure for the plague spreading through Alterica.

And after you decipher each mystery, your Caduceus - the magical staff carried by all healers- will transform. As you rise in rank, the staff will magically acquire the snakes, wings, and sparkling jewel of the full Caduceus. Throughout your journey, you will meet unforgettable characters, form alliances with other players, and set your own course until you find the cure that will save Alterica.
